A style thing you can do to help visually break up long blog posts is the block quotes like you see in magazines. Besides looking really cool, the block quotes can help highlight an upcoming point later on in the post, which if intriguing enough, will get your reader to keep reading because they want to get to the juicy quote part.

A style thing you can do to help visually break up long blog posts is the block quotes like you see in magazines. You can experiment with different settings for the border property, such as the thickness, the color and the style using these two examples as a guide. Using background colors and images
In this blog I used a combination of background image and color to highlight block quotes from the main body of text. The method for this is very similar to how we can define the main background of a blog. Here is a simple example to define the background color as a pale grey:
